In this provocative book, theologian and activist Drew Hart challenges the church to take an honest look at the ongoing effects of white supremacy on American Christianity.  Rooted in Hart's own experience of living "on the underside of America's racial hierarchy," Trouble I've Seen explores mass incarceration, police brutality, racial stereotypes, and poverty within the larger context of America's divisive racial history.  He challenges Christians of all races to "leave behind the whitened Jesus," and examine the ways in which easy platitudes have taken the place of rigorous dialogue and self-reflection when it comes to dismantling racial hierarchies.  Hart offers concrete practices (sharing life together, engaging in self-examination, seeing the world from below, and using Scripture to renew our social imaginations) to seek justice for the oppressed and marginalized.
